Crossing the Mediterranean through our aquatic rescue network

Last week, we happened to attend one of the most important technological events in the world: the Coinsbank Blockchain Cruise.

This company, based in Edinburgh, has being offering events’ services since 2016 and its main goal is to provide a unique space for the professionals of the industry to connect and promote the blockchain technology outside the typical environment where a conference is usually given.

After three successful editions, this event was held for the fourth time between the 9th and the 13rd of June across the Mediterranean. We sailed from Barcelona and landed in Civitavecchia, with stops in Palma de Mallorca, Marseille and La Spezia. It took place aboard Royal Caribbean’s majestic Oasis of the Sea and brought together hundreds of speakers and attendees from around the world (leading companies of the industry, business technology leaders, investors, influencers, etc.).

As couldn’t be otherwise, when we found out about the existence of this event, we took for granted that we had to be there. Being three days offshore and surrounded by blockchain world professionals was a perfect fit for us, and the space was an ideal place to raise awareness of the importance of aquatic safety.

72 hours of blockchain

On Sunday, June 9, we began our maritime adventure, in which we attended several speeches on cryptocurrencies and blockchain, enjoying the views of the Mediterranean.

The event brought together influential personalities from the industry such as John McAfee, Tone Vays, Matthew Arnett or Larry Sanger, among others. Three intense days in which there were speeches and passionate debates about the future of cryptocurrencies, the adoption of blockchain technology, the use of tokens and investment in blockchain projects. It is noteworthy that Luis Borges, OneUP co-founder and CEO, gave a speech about how we use the blockchain technology within our project on the last day of the cruise; a very good way to end this journey and which helped us to make us known more and to spread the OneUP philosophy.

Moreover, we had a booth inside the conference room in which part of our sales team were solving any doubt that might arise to those who were interested in our product. The acceptance was amazing, and we met many people who shared our same values.

But we didn’t only spent hours in the conference room, there were also a lot of activities in which we interacted with the rest of the attendees. From helicopter rides in Palma de Mallorca, Segway routes in Marseille, to dinners in a more relaxed environment.

Since we started with the first communications, we noticed that the organizers of the event were very excited to offer this opportunity of connection among people from the blockchain world. Its potential can only be expressed through an active community which supports each other, something that is promoted within this cruise. We consider that it wasn’t only a revolutionary way to carry out an event, but it was also a success.

But this is just the beginning, we still have a long road ahead to reach all the corners of the world. Our launching will be on December 16 of this year and there are still many events in which we plan to be, so we can expand our global aquatic rescue network.
